Mini Z Event Rentals

Mini ZWhat is the Mini Z?

The MINI Z® is the world’s first handheld x-ray system that uses backscatter imaging technology to highlight concealed organic threats e.g. explosives and contraband items e.g. drugs providing unsurpassed operational flexibility. Combined with our Enhanced Detection Panel the Mini Z® provides operators with a transmission image of the object to detect metallic threats e.g. guns and knives. Images are displayed on the integrated tablet simultaneously.

With its small form factor and single-sided imaging, the MINI Z®  can scan a wide variety of targets, such as unattended bags, unusual packages or any out of place items. The system is completely self-contained, with no required set-up and no consumables to replenish. Simply power on the device and you’re ready to scan. The MINI Z®  is inherently low dose and features reliable and redundant safety subsystems. It’s intelligent and user-friendly interface assists operators to quickly and accurately analyze images.

In our view the Mini Z®  is an essential security tool for any venue security team, and in time will be as critical on-premise as a defibrillator across the events sector.

Mini Z in use/ Use Cases

  • Normal event day operations inside the stadium e.g., Pedestrian & Vehicle Screening Areas, Car Parks, and Concourses etc.
  • Hard to reach, secluded back of house areas, and storage areas within the venue footprint that traditional x-ray systems cannot reach e.g., understairs, logistic compounds and elevated walkways etc.
  • Non-routine events e.g., corporate events, concert series or unique shows that bring different security challenges and may require an alternative method of operation.
  • On-venue 24/7 guard patrols particularly for overnight security.

How it works

With the Enhanced Detection Panel, operators can acquire a transmission image of the scanned object to detect metallic threats, such as guns and knives. The transmission image, which can penetrate 15 mm of steel, is displayed simultaneously with the Z Backscatter image.

The Enhanced Detection Panel is ready to scan as soon as the MINI Z system is powered on.

History of the Mini Z

The MINI Z systems have been in production for more than 6 years and they are used by customs and border agencies, police departments, military organizations, security officials, drug enforcement agencies, and critical infrastructure/high-threat facilities in more than 50 countries.

Some examples of MINI Z system seizures include:

A Chinese Drug Enforcement Agency used the MINI Z system to scan baggage at various checkpoints along bus routes and successfully seized drugs hidden in the luggage of a passenger bus.

U.S. Public Safety officials discovered US$275,000 concealed in the liner of a cooler in the cab of a truck.

A U.S. interdiction team detected US$350,000 near a truck’s radiator.

Building on this huge success with Law Enforcement Agencies across the globe, the Mini Z®  technology is now being introduced to the events sector where it will be of particular benefit to Safety Officers and Venue Security Teams.

Future Requirements:

With the pending changes to the 'Protect Duty' (Martyn's Law), ever increasing pressure on budgets and the requirement to reduce reliance on emergency service response; S2 | FOAMHAND now offer this security technology on a contract rental basis. Our affordable and flexible rental plan will enable any security team to integrate this equipment into their security operations plans from day-one of rental.
